Support for Individuals Without Legal Representation: Litigants in Person
Our Approach
Our approach is grounded in clarity, transparency, and person-centred support. When individuals contact us without legal representation, we take the time to understand their situation and explain how clinical assessments and medico-legal processes typically work.
As a neuropsychology-led clinic, we do not provide legal advice. However, we recognise the importance of accessing appropriate legal guidance early. Where relevant, we can signpost individuals to trusted solicitors who offer initial discussions on a no obligation basis. This allows individuals to explore their options without pressure and make informed decisions about whether to proceed.
If legal representation is established, the solicitor will provide a formal Letter of Instruction, ensuring that any neuropsychological assessment or report is conducted within the appropriate legal framework. This helps maintain the independence, objectivity, and clinical integrity of our work.

How can this service help me if I don’t have a solicitor?
If you are unsure about what to do next, this service provides a clear starting point. We can help you understand how neuropsychological assessment may be relevant to your situation, and what steps are typically required before an assessment can take place in a legal context.
You do not need to have everything prepared. Many individuals reach out simply to gain clarity. Where appropriate, we can guide you towards legal professionals who can review your situation and advise you on whether there may be grounds to explore a claim.

Will I be required to proceed with legal action?
No. Being signposted to a solicitor does not create any obligation to proceed. Initial discussions are typically offered on a no obligation basis, allowing you to understand your options before making any decisions.
You are also free to explore different legal firms and take the time you need to decide what feels right for you. Our role is to support you in accessing the appropriate pathway, not to direct or influence your decision.
How does this fit with neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation?
Neuropsychological assessments can play an important role in understanding the cognitive, emotional, and functional impact of a brain injury or neurological condition. In medico-legal contexts, these assessments are usually instructed through a solicitor to ensure that they meet legal standards.
Where appropriate, we can begin with an initial clinical consultation to understand your needs and provide guidance on next steps. If your case proceeds within a legal framework, any further assessment or reporting will be conducted following formal instruction.
This ensures that clinical care, rehabilitation, and medico-legal processes are aligned in a structured and ethically sound way.
Questions our clients ask
Frequently asked questions
You may have questions about how career coaching works or whether it would be helpful for you. Some common questions are answered below.
Do I need a solicitor before contacting the clinic?
No. You are welcome to contact us directly. We can help you understand the process and, where appropriate, signpost you to a solicitor.
Is there any cost for being introduced to a solicitor?
No. Initial conversations with solicitors are typically offered on a no obligation basis, and there is no additional cost for being signposted.
Can I have an assessment without a solicitor?
Yes, you can access clinical assessments independently. However, if the assessment is intended for legal purposes, it will usually need to be formally instructed by a solicitor.
What should I prepare before reaching out?
You do not need to have everything ready. If possible, it can be helpful to have a brief outline of your situation, any medical information, and details of your concerns. We can guide you from there.
